Boardwalk Retirement Community is a seniors only apartment building located at 3520 31 Street NW, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The building was built in 1970, and the fire alarm system was upgraded in 1998.

System Specifications (1998-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Notifier AFP-200 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system runs Notifier’s CLIP addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances are Mircom BL-10B motor bells (10” gong).
The following bells are installed on the system, in order of most to least units:

  • Mircom BL-10A motor bells (10” gong)
  • Fire-Lite/Notifier MB-G10-24 motor bells (10” gong)
  • Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong)
  • Notifier KMS-10-24VDC/P motor bells (10” gong)
  • Mircom BL-6B motor bells (6” gong)
There is a Mircom “Select-A-Horn/Strobe” FHS-340R horn/strobe (red, wall-mount, set to electromechanical/15cd) in the corridor between this building and Brentview Tower.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

Most pull stations are Notifier NFM-950B conventional single-action pull stations.
Some areas have Notifier MPS-950B conventional single-action pull stations as deficiency replacements.
Other areas have Fire-Lite FM-950B conventional single-action pull stations.
Additionally, some areas have Mircom MS-401 conventional single-action pull stations.
All stations have Notifier MMX-101A addressable monitor modules attached to them.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

The hallways on each upper floor have Notifier CPX-551A addressable ionization smoke detectors.
There are Notifier FSP-851A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the first floor and in elevator lobbies on all floors.
The electrical rooms, elevator machine room and garbage rooms on all lower floors have Notifier FDX-551RA addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors.
Some aforementioned rooms have Notifier FST-851RA addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors.
All CPX and FDX-series detectors are mounted on Notifier BX501 bases.
All FSP and FST-series detectors are mounted on System Sensor B210LPA bases.
The garbage rooms on all upper floors have System Sensor 5601A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors, monitored by Notifier FMM-101A addressable monitor modules attached to each detector.
The main mechanical room has an FDD CF-135 conventional 135°F fixed-temperature heat detector, monitored by a Notifier FMM-1A addressable monitor module.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier CMX-2A addressable relay modules serving various purposes.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier EOL-CR end of line resistor plates on all signal circuits.
