The Maligne Lodge was a hotel located at 912 Connaught Drive, in Jasper, Alberta, Canada. The hotel opened in 1963, and had two buildings: the main building, and the outdoor suites. The main building’s fire alarm system was upgraded in 1993, and the outdoor suites building’s fire alarm system was upgraded in the 1980s. The hotel was destroyed on July 24, 2024 by a wildfire.
Former System Specifications (Main Building) (1993-2024)[edit | edit source]
FACP[edit | edit source]
The building was protected by a Notifier System 500 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located behind the front desk. The system coding was likely continuous.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
There were Notifier KMS-10-24VDC/P motor bells (10” gong) throughout all common areas. There were no notification appliances in guest rooms.
Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]
Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
All pull stations were Notifier FM-950B conventional single-action pull stations.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
There were System Sensor “i3” C2W-BA conventional photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building.
EOLs[edit | edit source]
There were Notifier EOL-CR end of line resistor plates on all circuits.
Former System Specifications (Outdoor Suites) (1980s-2024)[edit | edit source]
System Specifications |

FACP: None System Type: 120V Hardwired System Line Voltage: 120VAC System Coding: Continuous Date of last known Upgrade: 1980s Year Opened: 1963 Year Destroyed: 2024 |
FACP[edit | edit source]
The suites were protected by a 3-wire hardwired fire alarm system, so there was no panel.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
All notification appliances are Edwards “Adaptabel” 340 vibrating bells (6” gong, grey).
Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]
Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
Most pull stations were Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations.
There was a newer variant installed as a deficiency replacement.
Notifier MPS-950B and Mircom MS-401 conventional single-action pull stations were installed as deficiency replacements in some areas.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
None were present.
