The fire alarm control panel is either a Notifier AM2020 or AFP1010, judging by the annunciators. The main panel(s) are not visible. They were installed in 2005.
All panels are networked with Notifier NCM modules, and the 4 main nodes are controlled via a Notifier NCA-2 network control annunciator, mounted on the main cabinet.

The system runs Notifier's FlashScan addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal is 20BPM, followed by temporal, the alarm signal.

The notification appliances mainly consist of Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bells in the ceiling behind grills. They are mounted like that possibly for preference. In one part where the entrance to Walmart from the store is, there is the Notifier KMS-10-24A bells, but on the wall behind grills, and they have a System Sensor "SpectrAlert" S1224MC (red, wall, multi-candela) remote strobe beside them. In the Walmart, there are the Notifier KMS-10-24A bells, but on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plates. The pillars have two of the mentioned bell/strobes on each side, and two System Sensor "SpectrAlert" S1224MC remote strobes on the others. On one pillar, both original strobes broke down and were replaced with a System Sensor "L-Series" SRLA (red, wall, bilingual) remote strobe, and an EST "Genesis" G1R-VM (red, wall, no FIRE) remote strobe. In the McDonalds, however, there is a Notifier KMS-10-24A bell with the gong covering the strobe altogether. In the Dollarama, there are Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells on EST "Integrity" 403-5A-R strobe plates.

Marlborough Mall is a shopping mall located at 3800 Memorial Drive, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The mall is anchored by Walmart Supercentre. The mall opened in November 1971, and underwent a major renovation in 2005. The fire alarm system was fully upgraded following the 2005 renovation.

System Specifications (2005-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Notifier ONYX-series addressable fire alarm system. The panels protecting the main mall, professional tower and Walmart are Notifier NFS2-640C addressable fire alarm panels. These 4 panels are located in the main boiler room, behind the food court.

The boards for the main mall and professional tower are mounted in one cabinet, with the Walmart panel being mounted in an adjacent cabinet. Makami College is protected by a Notifier NFS-320C addressable fire alarm system, located somewhere in the college.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

Most entrances have Notifier LCD-80TM annunciators.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Main Mall[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances are Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bells (10" gong). Most are mounted behind grills in the ceiling, however some are surface-mounted with System Sensor "SpectrAlert" S2415A remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 15cd) mounted near them.

Walmart[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances are Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bells (10" gong) mounted on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plates (set to 15cd).

Most are mounted on pillars with two bell/strobes facing opposite directions, and System Sensor S2415A (red, wall-mount, 15cd) remote strobes on the other two sides.

There is an EST "Genesis" G1R-VM (red, wall-mount, no lettering, multi-candela, set to 15cd) remote strobe and System Sensor "L-Series" SRLA (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd) remote strobe on the same pillar, both installed as deficiency replacements.

Dollarama[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances are Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6" gong) mounted on Edwards 403-5A-R strobe plates (15cd).

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations but three are Notifier FM955 addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.

The remaining three are Notifier MPS-950KB conventional two-stage single-action pull stations, wired to Notifier FMM-101A addressable monitor modules.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier FSP-851A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in some areas, mounted on System Sensor B210LPA bases.

The maintenance offices and other back areas have Notifier FST-751RA addressable 135°F fixed/rate-of-rise heat detectors, mounted on System Sensor B710LPA bases.

There are Notifier FSD-751PLA addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors on all air handling units.

Some areas have FDD "ThermoFlex" CR-135 conventional 135°F fixed/rate-of-rise heat detectors.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier FMM-1A addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.

There are Notifier FRM-1A addressable relay modules serving various purposes.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier EOL-CR end of line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
