The fire alarm control panel is a Notifier NFS2-640C installed in 2014. It is located behind the front customer service desk at the entrance. It replaced an EST 6632 from 1995, likely after the CPU failed. Despite the NFS2-640C being an addressable FACP, the system is not set up in an addressable manner. The system is managed by Troy Life & Fire Safety.

At the back of the store in the "cut shop", there is an unknown 10" bell on a strobe plate like the Simplex 4903-9101, however it is unknown as there are only employees allowed back there. Lowe's Home Improvement is a chain of home improvement stores throughout Canada. This particular location is located at 90 Crowfoot Way, Calgary, AB. It was built in 1995 as REVY, became RONA in 2001, and finally Lowe's in 2017. The fire alarm system is mostly original, with parts replaced as deficiencies occur.

System Specifications[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The store is protected by a Notifier NFS2-640C conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located behind the front customer service desk at the entrance. This panel has multiple Notifier XP6-MA zone modules in it to make it conventional. The system coding is likely continuous.

The NFS2-640C replaced an EST ESA2000 in 2011.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances are the original Wheelock MBS-G10-24 motor bell/strobes (10" gong, 1.5cd). There is one outside in the garden centre, under the ceiling and is very weathered out, with the strobe yellow and faded.

The other original notification appliances in the store are Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10" gong), and can be found scattered, likely for more coverage.

The garden centre has Edwards 439D-10AWC bells with EST "Integrity" 202-5A-001 (red, 15cd) strobes under them.

There are two Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bells (10" gong) on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW (red, multi-candela) strobe plates, beside the panel, and by the checkouts, installed as deficiency replacements.

At the back of the store by aisle 43, there is a Wheelock MB-G10-24 motor bell (10" gong) on a Wheelock RSSP-2415W (15cd) strobe plate that was installed as a deficiency replacement prior to 2007.

In the "cut shop", there is a Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bell (10" gong) installed as a deficiency replacement, mounted on the original Wheelock strobe plate.

In 2018, approximately four Simplex 2901-9724 motor bells (10" gong) on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plates (multi-candela, red, set to 15cd) were installed as deficiency replacements for MBS-G10-24 bell/strobes. One is facing downward.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations except for one are the original Edwards 270-SPO conventional pull stations.

There is a Simplex MS-301C conventional pull station in the garden centre installed as a deficiency replacement.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

None noticed. The building has a sprinkler system.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
