Safeway Canada is a Canadian grocery store chain owned by Sobeys. This particular store is located at 5005 Dalhousie Drive Northwest #100, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The store opened in 1996, and the fire alarm system is from 2021.

System Specifications (2021-present)[edit | edit source]

Please note that some system information is unconfirmed. This page should not be used for official purposes.

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Simplex 4007ES conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances are from Simplex's "TrueAlert" line of products. Most notification appliances are Simplex “TrueAlert” 4906-9127 horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd). There are Simplex 4906-9104 remote strobes (white, ceiling-mount, set to 30cd) located throughout the store on the ceiling.

There is a Simplex 4906-9105 weatherproof remote strobe (red, wall-mount) outside the building.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All storefront pull stations are Simplex 2099-9754 conventional single-action pull stations. The backroom has Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations, leftover from the old system.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

The store is equipped with a sprinkler system, and no detectors are present in the storefront.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 2081-9040C end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.

System Specifications (1996-2021)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building was protected by an EST 6632 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in the main entrance vestibule. The system coding was continuous. The panel was replaced due to a main board failure.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances were Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong), mounted on Edwards 403-5A-001 strobe plates (15cd). There was one Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plate in the floral department as a deficiency replacement; the Edwards bell remained intact. The centre areas of the store had Edwards 202-5A-001 remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 15cd) and Edwards 202-5A-101 remote strobes (white, wall-mount, 15cd) on the ceiling. There were also System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” SRA (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd) remote strobes on the ceiling, as deficiency replacements.

For exterior notification, there was an Edwards 439D-10AWC bell on EST 403-5A-001 strobe plate outside the entrance.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations were Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

Not known. There was a sprinkler system with waterflow detection, wired as a zone on the 6632.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There were Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
