'''TELUS World of Science''' is a science centre in Edmonton, AB. It is located near Coronation Park, NW Edmonton. The facility was built in 1984 as Edmonton Space Science Centre, then it was expanded in 2001 as the Odyssium. In 2005, the name was changed to Telus World of Science. The fire alarm system is not original, however some notification appliances may be. The centre has many facilities, including an IMAX theatre.

The fire alarm panels are EST3 addressable fire alarm panels. They were installed as the replacement panels for older EST3 panels in around 2011-13. One of the panels has been spotted at the Discovery Gallery entrance, beside the Space Place entrance. There's an auxiliary panel next to it as well.

TELUS World of Science is a science centre located at 11211 142 St NW, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The centre was originally built in 1983, and was expanded in 1992, 2001, 2012 and 2022. Some portions of the system are original to each phase.

System Specifications

FACP

The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 hybrid-addressable fire alarm system. This is a networked system with three nodes: one node is located by Nature Exhange, one in the Feature Gallery, and one in the Arctic Gallery by an electrical room. All nodes are equipped with Edwards LCDXL1 displays. The system runs Edwards' Signature addressable protocol, and the system coding is likely continuous.
These panels were installed in 2022 as replacements for older EST3s from 2012 and 2001; the system was originally an Edwards Custom 6500.

Annunciators

There is an Edwards EST3-6ANN annunciator equipped with an LCDXL1 display in the main entrance vestibule.

Booster Panels

There are likely Edwards BPS10A booster power supplies on the system.

Notification Appliances

Science Garage & Health Gallery

Most notification appliances are General Signal MB10-24 motor bells (10" gong) mounted on Edwards 403-5A-R strobe plates (15cd).
There is an Edwards MB10-24 motor bell (10" gong) near the 2nd floor electrical room as a deficiency replacement, mounted on the original strobe plate.
There is a Simplex "TrueAlert" 4906-9104 remote strobe (white, ceiling-mount, set to 15cd) by the Space Gallery as a deficiency replacement for a failed strobe plate.
There is one Edwards 202-15PS remote strobe (red, wall-mount, 15cd) in the Science Garage.

Arctic Gallery, Main Lobby, Space Gallery, Feature Gallery, Gift Shop

Most notification appliances are Edwards MB10-24 motor bells (10" gong) mounted on Edwards 403-5A-R strobe plates (15cd).
The aforementioned bells are mounted remotely in the Feature Gallery, and one is paired with an Edwards "Genesis" G1VRN remote strobe (red, wall-mount, no marking, set to 15cd) near the gift shop.

IMAX Theatre, Imaginarium, Nature Exchange, Classroom Area

All notification appliances in the IMAX Theatre, Imaginarium and adjacent corridors are Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10" gong) paired with Edwards 802-2B remote strobes (red, wall-mount).
The classroom and nature exchange areas have Edwards "Durabel" 6100D vibrating bells (6" gong), with one Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell (10" gong) installed as a deficiency replacement in the classroom area.
There is a Simplex 2901-9723 motor bell (6" gong) by the former computer lab as a deficiency replacement.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All older areas have Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations.
The Feature Gallery and Arctic Gallery have EST SIGA-270 addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Edwards C2M-PD conventional photoelectric smoke detectors in some areas.
There are likely System Sensor 5601A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in mechanical, electrical and storage rooms.
There are Edwards SIGA-PD addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in all elevator lobbies and at the top of each elevator shaft, mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases.
There are Edwards "SuperDuct" SD-2W conventional photoelectric duct smoke detectors on most air handling units.
There is an EST SIGA-SD addressable photoelectric duct smoke detector on the Feature Gallery air handling unit.

Modules

There are EST SIGA-CR addressable relay modules serving various purposes, including elevator recall.
There are EST SIGA-IM addressable isolator modules on all SLCs.

EOLs

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end of line resistor plates on all conventional and signal circuits.
