The Donut Mill is a donut shop/restaurant located at 123 Leva Avenue, in Red Deer County, Alberta, Canada. The building opened in 1994, and the fire alarm system is original with the exception of the FACP.

The building is protected by a Fire-Lite MS-5UDC conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located just past the main entrance. The system coding is continuous.

This panel replaced an EST 6604 in 2013.

Notification Appliances

There are two notification appliances on this system; one outside and one inside.

The indoor notification appliance is a Wheelock MBS-G6-24 motor bell/strobe (6” gong, 1.5cd).

The outdoor notification appliance is an Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bell (6” gong).

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Edwards 281C conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors throughout the building.

There is a Mircom TD-135 conventional 135°F fixed-temperature heat detector in the washroom hallway as a deficiency replacement.

EOLs

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.

Code Violations

The Wheelock bell/strobe inside the restaurant has been blocked by a menu since 2013. This is a violation of CAN/ULC code as the strobe flashes are not visible.
