The fire alarm control panel is a Notifier NFS2-640C installed in 2014. It is located behind the front customer service desk at the entrance. It replaced an EST 6632 from 1995, likely after the CPU failed. Despite the NFS2-640C being an addressable FACP, the system is not set up in an addressable manner. The system is managed by Troy Life & Fire Safety.

The main notification appliances are Wheelock MBS-G10-24 motor bell/strobes, which are original. There is one outside under a ceiling by the garden center and is very weathered out, with the strobe yellow and faded. The other original notification appliances in the store are Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells, and can be seen kind of mixed in. The garden center's plant area has Edwards 439D-10AWC bells with EST "Integrity" 202-5A-T strobes under them, also original from 1995. There are a few bells and bell/strobes replacing failed bells and bell/strobes. There are two Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bells on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plates, one beside the panel, and one by the checkouts. At the back of the store by aisle 43, there is a Wheelock MB-G10-24 motor bell on a Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plate that replaced a failed bell/strobe before 2007. At the back of the store in the "cut shop", there is an unknown 10" bell on a strobe plate like the Simplex 4903-9101, however it is unknown as there are only employees allowed back there. Recently in 2018, approximately 4 Wheelock MBS-G10-24 bell/strobes were replaced with Simplex 2901-9724 motor bells on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plates. One on the ceiling is facing downward.

Lowe's Home Improvement is a chain of home improvement stores throughout Canada. This particular location is located at 90 Crowfoot Way, Calgary, AB. It was built in 1995 as REVY, became RONA in 2001, and finally Lowe's in 2017. The fire alarm system is mostly original, with parts replaced as deficiencies occur.

System Specifications

FACP

The building is protected by a Notifier NFS2-640C conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located behind the front customer service desk at the entrance, and has multiple Notifier XP6-MAA zone cards to accommodate the system's conventional technology. The system coding is likely continuous.

The NFS2-640C replaced an EST ESA2000 in 2011.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Wheelock MBS-G10-24 motor bell/strobes (10" gong, 1.5cd).

There are Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10" gong) scattered throughout the sales floor.

The garden centre has Edwards 439D-10AWC bells with EST "Integrity" 202-5A-001 (red, 15cd) strobes under them.

The following devices were installed as deficiency replacements:

  • Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bells (10" gong) on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW (red, set to 15cd) strobe plates, beside the panel, and by the checkouts.
  • Wheelock MB-G10-24 motor bell (10" gong) on a Wheelock RSSP-2415W (15cd) strobe plate by aisle 43.
  • Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bell (10" gong) in the cut shop, mounted on the original Wheelock strobe plate.
  • Four Simplex 2901-9724 motor bells (10" gong) on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plates (red, set to 15cd).

Pull Stations

All pull stations except for one are the original Edwards 270-SPO conventional pull stations.

There is a Simplex MS-301C conventional pull station in the garden centre installed as a deficiency replacement.

Automatic Detection Devices

None noticed. The building has a sprinkler system.

EOLs

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
