The '''University of Calgary''' is a public university in Calgary, and it has many interesting fire alarm systems. This page covers the '''Kinesiology B''' wing, which is right next to Kinesiology A. Same building, but different sections. This one, unlike Kinesiology A, has a voice-evac system. The fire alarm panel isn't original, but everything else is.

The fire alarm control panel is a Simplex 4100U that started out as an auxiliary panel for extra detectors in 2006. It was formerly wired into a '''Simplex 2120''' from around the 1980s when this wing was built, then the 4100U was installed to cover extra detectors because they couldn't wire any more points to the 2120. The 4100U officially replaced the 2120 in 2019. The 2120 cabinet is now gutted, but remaining.

System Specifications (1987-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100U conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located at the northeast/MacEwan Student Centre entrance. The system is equipped with voice evacuation. The evacuation signal is slow whoop, with a custom message.

The 4100U was originally installed in 2006 as an auxiliary panel for the previous Simplex 2120, and everything on the 2120 was moved to the 4100U in 2019. The 2120 cabinet remains, however is gutted.

The system is part of a campus-wide 4120 network.

There is a Simplex 4100 LED annunciator at the Olympic Oval entrance, which uses an annunciation bay from a 4100U in a single-bay cabinet.

Notification Appliances

Most areas have Simplex “LifeAlarm” 2902-9734 remote speakers (beige, flush-mount, 25V).

Areas with high ceilings, as well as exterior areas have SImplex 2902-9732 remote speakers (red, surface-mount, 25V).

Some areas have Simplex 2902-9711 re-entrant speakers (red, surface-mount, 25V) as deficiency replacements.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Simplex 2099-9201 conventional single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are a mix of Simplex 2098-9201 conventional photoelectric smoke detectors and Simplex 2098-9560 conventional ionization smoke detectors throughout most areas.

Some areas have Simplex "TrueAlarm" 4098-9601 conventional photoelectric smoke detectors as deficiency replacements.

EOLs

There are Simplex 2081-9018C end-of-line resistor plates on all signal circuits.
