The University of Calgary is a public university located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The building is protected by a Simplex 4100U conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located at the northeast/MacEwan Student Centre entrance. The system is equipped with voice evacuation. The evacuation signal is slow whoop, with a custom message.
The 4100U was originally installed in 2006 as an auxiliary panel for the previous Simplex 2120, and everything on the 2120 was moved to the 4100U in 2019. The 2120 cabinet remains, however is gutted.
The system is part of a campus-wide 4120 network.

Notification Appliances
Most areas have Simplex “LifeAlarm” 2902-9734 remote speakers (beige, flush-mount, 25V).
Areas with high ceilings, as well as exterior areas have SImplex 2902-9732 remote speakers (red, surface-mount, 25V).
Some areas have Simplex 2902-9711 re-entrant speakers (red, surface-mount, 25V) as deficiency replacements.

Automatic Detection Devices
There are a mix of Simplex 2098-9201 conventional photoelectric smoke detectors and Simplex 2098-9560 conventional ionization smoke detectors throughout most areas.
