In October 2018, there was a career fair held at the BMO Centre. There were two tables regarding fire alarm work, one was for CFAA (Canadian Fire Alarm Association) and one was for a Tyco fire alarm career. Both of those had temporary mini fire alarm systems for demonstration purposes only.
Note: These systems were for demonstration purposes only, and did not actually serve to warn people of fire. NEVER pull a fire alarm unless there is actually a fire emergency. The staff on this wiki are not responsible for your actions if you get fined.
System Specifications (CFAA)[edit | edit source]
System Specifications |
---|
FACP: Notifier NFS-320SYS System Type: Addressable System Line Voltage: 120VAC NAC Voltage: 24VDC System Coding: Temporal Strobes Synchronized: Yes, SS |
FACP[edit | edit source]
The panel for this demo system was a Notifier NFS-320SYS addressable fire alarm system. The system ran Notifier's FlashScan addressable protocol, and the system coding was temporal. It was specially programmed for the demo system.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
Both notification appliances were from System Sensor's "SpectrAlert Advance" line of products.
There was a System Sensor MHWZA mini-horn (white, silenceable), which sounded when the pull station was activated.
There was also a System Sensor P2RA horn/strobe (red, wall-mount, set to low volume, 15/75cd), which would sound if a smoke or heat detector was activated.
Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]
Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
The pull station was a Notifier NBG-12LX addressable dual action pull station. When it was activated, it would sound the mini-horn.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
The automatic detection devices consisted of two Notifier FSP-851A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors, and a Notifier FST-851RA thermal addressable heat detector. When one of these were activated, the horn/strobe would go off.
System Specifications (Tyco)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]
The panel for this demo system was a Simplex 4007ES addressable fire alarm system. The system ran Simplex's IDNet addressable initiating protocol and IDNAC addressable signaling protocol, and the system coding was temporal.
Annunciators[edit | edit source]
There was a Simplex 4606-9202 touchscreen color screen annunciator right next to the panel, and a graphic annunciator underneath.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
Both notification appliances are from Simplex's "TrueAlert ES" line of addressable products.
They were a Simplex 59AV-WRF addressable LED horn/strobe (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd), and a Simplex 59VO-WRF addressable remote strobe (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd). The horn/strobe had tape covering the horn grill, due to the loudness of the alarm and the fact that it was for an expo.
Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]
Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
The pull station was a Simplex 4099-9004 addressable single action pull station.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
The automatic detection devices consisted of a Simplex "TrueAlarm" 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detector, a Simplex 4098-9733 addressable fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector, and a Simplex 4098-9754 addressable multi-sensor heat and smoke detector; this was mounted on a 4098-9795 sounder base. There were also modules and relays for simulating a waterflow system.
Modules[edit | edit source]
There were Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising simulated sprinkler flow and tamper switches.
There was also a Simplex 4090-9002 addressable relay module simulating an HVAC fan shutdown.
There was also a 4090-9116 IDNet isolator module on the SLC.
