'''Raven Meadows Golf Resort''' is a golf resort located in Alder Flats, AB. The resort has an 18-hole golf course, an RV park with 42 sites, and a 2-story hotel with a restaurant in it. The golf resort opened in 1978, but the hotel's fire alarm system is not original. The fire alarm system also has some issues. The system has not been looked after for years, and was last inspected on August 4, 2006 by Abendroth Electric, who are now out of business.
In October 2021, the hotel burnt down to the ground.

The hotel is protected by an Edwards 6616 fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance, and was installed in 1989, confirmed by the date code on the heat detectors, as well as the cabinet style. The panel has 3 zones in use. As of August 29, 2021 the panel is in alarm for all zones in use plus one unused zone, and has the alarm silenced though the LED on the right side is on "RESET".
As of August 2021, the panel suffered a main board failure, and was in stuck in alarm for all three zones plus an spare zone. Therefore, the system was no longer functional.

The notification appliances are an Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell with its stickers peeled off in the hallway by the golf store and lounge, and a silver Edwards "Durabel" 6100D (10" gong) vibrating bell in the hallway to the restaurant. Both seemed to be installed in 1989. It is unknown what is on the 2nd floor, as the main floor was only checked.
In the hallway to the restaurant, there was an Edwards “Durabel” 6100D vibrating bell (10" gong). It was painted over, except for the label.

All bells were installed in 1989.

All pull stations except for one were Edwards 275-C111 conventional pull stations. These were located at every exit, including an awkward install by a sliding glass door pointed toward the door handle; this was because there is no room for the pull station to be mounted on the wall, as it would be blocked by curtains.

The pull stations mostly consist of Edwards 275-C111 pull stations, which were likely installed when the 6616 was. There is a 2nd-generation Edwards 270-SPO (classic shield, no FIRE ALARM) near the Durabel, and is likely the only original device to the building.
There was one original Edwards 270-SPO in the restaurant hallway exit.

System Specifications (1989-2021)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The hotel was protected by an Edwards 6616 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in the entrance hallway. The system had three zones in use, and the system coding was continuous.

As of August 2021, the panel suffered a main board failure, and was in stuck in alarm for all three zones plus an spare zone. Therefore, the system was no longer functional.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances except one were Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong). The one in the lobby was vandalized; both labels ripped off, and the gong was mounted on the striker with a crosshead screw instead of the original hex bolt.

In the hallway to the restaurant, there was an Edwards “Durabel” 6100D vibrating bell (10" gong). It was painted over, except for the label.

All bells were installed in 1989.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations except for one were Edwards 275-C111 conventional pull stations. These were located at every exit, including an awkward install by a sliding glass door pointed toward the door handle; this was because there is no room for the pull station to be mounted on the wall, as it would be blocked by curtains.

There was one original Edwards 270-SPO in the restaurant hallway exit.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There were Edwards 281C rate of rise/fixed-temperature heat detectors throughout the hotel. They were not replaced despite the recall due to the company being out of business by the time. There was no sprinkler system.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There were Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
