'''Raven Meadows Golf Resort''' is a golf resort located in Alder Flats, AB. The resort has an 18-hole golf course, an RV park with 42 sites, and a 2-story hotel with a restaurant in it. The golf resort opened in 1978, but the hotel's fire alarm system was not original. The fire alarm system had major issues. The system had not been looked after for years, and was last inspected on August 4, 2006 by Abendroth Electric, who are now out of business. Unfortunately the hotel had caught fire and burnt down in September 2021.
As of August 2021, the system was not inspected in 15 years (last serviced 2006), the panel had failed, and as a result, the system was inoperable. The hotel burnt down to the ground two months later.

The hotel was protected by an Edwards 6616 fire alarm system. The panel was located in the main entrance, and was installed in 1989, confirmed by the date code on the heat detectors, as well as the cabinet style. The panel had 3 zones in use. As of August 29, 2021 the panel was in alarm for all zones in use plus one unused zone, and has the alarm silenced though the LED on the right side is on "RESET", which indicates a main board failure. Therefore, the system was inoperable, so when the building had burnt down, the fire alarm system did not activate.
As of August 2021, the panel suffered a main board failure, and was in stuck in alarm for all three zones plus an spare zone. Therefore, the system was no longer functional.

The notification appliances were an Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell with its stickers peeled off in the hallway by the golf store and lounge, and a VERY rare silver Edwards "Durabel" 6100D (10" gong) vibrating bell in the hallway to the restaurant. Both seemed to be installed in 1989. It is unknown what was on the 2nd floor, as the main floor was only checked.
In the hallway to the restaurant, there was an Edwards “Durabel” 6100D vibrating bell (10" gong). It was painted over, except for the label.

All bells were installed in 1989.

The pull stations mostly consisted of Edwards 275-C111 pull stations, which were likely installed when the 6616 was. There was a 2nd-generation Edwards 270-SPO (classic shield, no FIRE ALARM) near the Durabel, and was likely the only original device to the building.

Raven Meadows Golf Resort is a golf course located in at 454065 Highway 22, Alder Flats, AB. Its amenities include a campground an 18-hole golf course, and formerly a hotel with a restaurant and pro shop. This page will cover the former hotel, which burnt down in October 2021. The resort was opened in 1978, and the hotel's fire alarm system was upgraded in 1989.

As of August 2021, the system was not inspected in 15 years (last serviced 2006), the panel had failed, and as a result, the system was inoperable. The hotel burnt down to the ground two months later.

System Specifications (1989-2021)

FACP

The building was protected by an Edwards 6616 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in the entrance hallway. The system had three zones in use, and the system coding was continuous.

As of August 2021, the panel suffered a main board failure, and was in stuck in alarm for all three zones plus an spare zone. Therefore, the system was no longer functional.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances except one were Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong). The one in the lobby was vandalized; both labels ripped off, and the gong was mounted on the striker with a crosshead screw instead of the original hex bolt.

In the hallway to the restaurant, there was an Edwards “Durabel” 6100D vibrating bell (10" gong). It was painted over, except for the label.

All bells were installed in 1989.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations except for one were Edwards 275-C111 conventional pull stations. One was an awkward install by a sliding glass door pointed toward the door handle; this was because there is no room for the pull station to be mounted on the wall, as it would be blocked by curtains.

There was one original Edwards 270-SPO in the restaurant hallway exit.

Automatic Detection Devices

There were Edwards 281C conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors throughout the building.

The kitchen had an Edwards 284C conventional 194°F fixed-temperature heat detector.

EOLs

There were Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
