Westside Recreation Centre is a recreation centre located at 2000 69 St SW, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The building houses a large waterpark with a lap pool and hot tub, a leisure arena, an NHL-sized hockey rink, and many other amenities. The building was built in 2000, and was expanded in 2010. The fire alarm system is mostly original.

System Specifications

FACP

The building is protected by an Edwards EST3X addressable fire alarm system. This is a networked system with 2 nodes: Node 1 is located in the main entrance vestibule, and Node 2 is located in the youth gym electrical room. The system runs Edwards' Signature addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal coding is 20BPM, and the alarm signal coding is temporal.

Booster Panels

There are a mix of Edwards BPS and BPS6AC booster power supplies throughout the facility (15 total).

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong) mounted on Edwards 403-8A-R strobe plates (110cd).
The pool office and admin areas have Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6" gong) mounted on the aforementioned strobe plates.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are a mix of EST SIGA-PHS addressable multisensor and EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors at the top of each stairwell, at the top of the main elevator shaft, at the top of the waterslide tower, and in electrical and storage rooms.
There are Edwards SIGA-OSD addressable optical smoke detectors at the top of the new elevator shaft, in each new elevator lobby, in the new elevator machine room and in a storage room.
There are EST SIGA-HRS addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in the mechanical room and in a storage room.
All detectors are mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases.

Modules

There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper, low air and flow switches.
There are EST SIGA-CR addressable relay modules for AHU shutdown.
There are EST SIGA-IM addressable isolator modules on some SLCs.

EOLs

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
