Ecole Charlie Killam School is a middle school located at 4807 46 St, Camrose, AB. It is part of the Battle River School Division, teaches grades 6 to 8, and has an enrollment of 400. The school was originally built in 1930, expanded in 1941, 1952, 1954, and 1957, then got a modernization and major expansion in 1984. Portables were added in 1995 and 2003. Only the fire alarm system installed in the 1984 expansion is known, but was upgraded in the 2010s.

The building was protected by a Simplex 2001 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in the main entrance. There were 34 zones in use. The system coding was continuous.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances in the original building up to the 1984 expansion were Simplex 4080-5 vibrating bells (10” gong).

The 1995 portables had Simplex 2901-9722 motor bells (10” gong).

The 2003 portables had Simplex 2901-9723 motor bells (6” gong) on Wheelock RSSP-2415W strobe plates (red, 15cd).

There were Simplex 4251-20 conventional single-action pull stations throughout the school. T

he 1995 and 2003 portables had Simplex 2099-9754 conventional single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There were likely Simplex 4255-1 rate-of-rise/fixed-temperature heat detectors located throughout.

The 1995 portable had Simplex 2098-9110 ionization smoke detectors.

The 2003 portable had Simplex 4098-9601 conventional photoelectric smoke detectors. There was also a sprinkler system with waterflow detection in the latter.
