Sooke Elementary is an elementary school located at 6560 Sooke Rd, Sooke, BC. It was built in 1959, and the fire alarm system was upgraded in 2023.

System Specifications (2023-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Notifier NFS2-640C hybrid-addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in a storage room. The system runs Notifier’s FlashScan addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There are two Notifier ACM-24AT LED annunciators at entrance.

Booster Panels[edit | edit source]

There is a Notifier PSE-10C 10 amp power supply in the main portable.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances are System Sensor “L-Series” P2RLA horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to electromechanical/15cd). br> For outdoor notification, there is a System Sensor SRKA-B weatherproof remote strobe (red, wall-mount, blue lens, set to 75cd) that was installed in 2019, but was not connected until 2023.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations in the main building are Notifier NBG-12LX addressable dual-action pull stations.
The portables have Edwards 270-SPO conventional pull stations, wired to a Notifier XP6-MA addressable monitor relay.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier FSP-951A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building.
Some areas have Notifier FST-951RA addressable thermal heat detectors.
All detectors are mounted on System Sensor B300A-6 bases.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier EOL-CR end-of-line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.

Former System Specifications (Main Building) (1980s-2023)[edit | edit source]

System Specifications
FACP: Edwards Custom 6500
FACP Location: Storage Room
System Type: Single-Stage Conventional
System Line Voltage: 120VAC
NAC Voltage: 24VDC
System Coding: Continuous
Date of last known Upgrade: 2010s
Year Installed: 1980s
Year Decommissioned: 2023

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building was protected by a Edwards Custom 6500 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in a storage room. The system coding was continuous.
This system was replaced due to a panel failure.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There was an Edwards graphic annunciator at the entrance.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances were Edwards “Durabel” 6100D vibrating bells (10” gong).
There was an Edwards MB10-24 motor bell (10” gong) in the gym equipment room as a deficiency replacement.
There was a Mircom BL-10B motor bell (10” gong) as a deficiency replacement.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations were Edwards 270-SPO conventional pull stations.
Most of these were installed with the 6500, one was original, and there was one installed in the 2000s as a deficiency replacement.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There was a mix of Edwards 282A 197 degree fixed temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors and Edwards 281C conventional 135 degree fixed temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors throughout the building. The 282A’s were installed with the 6500, and the 281C’s were installed in 1987.
There was one Edwards conventional 135 degree fixed temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector installed with the 6500, model to be confirmed.
There was one Edwards 281B-PL conventional 135 degree fixed temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector as a deficiency replacement.
There was one System Sensor 5601A conventional 135 degree fixed temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector as a deficiency replacement near the gym.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There were Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.

System Specifications (Portables) (2019-2023)[edit | edit source]

System Specifications
FACP: Edwards iO1000
FACP Location: Main Portable
System Type: Single-Stage Conventional
System Line Voltage: 120VAC
NAC Voltage: 24VFWR
System Coding: Continuous
Date of last known Upgrade: N/A
Year installed: 2019
Year Decommissioned: 2023

FACP[edit | edit source]

The portables were protected by an Edwards iO1000 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in the main portable. The system coding was continuous.
This system was replaced to be on the same panel as the new system despite being only a few years old.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances were Edwards MB10-24 motor bells (10” gong).
For outdoor notification, there was a System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” SRKA-B weatherproof remote strobe (red, wall-mount, blue lens, set to 75cd) that was installed with the iO1000, but was not hooked up until the new system was installed.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations were newer Edwards 270-SPO conventional pull stations. These remain on the current system.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There were System Sensor 5601A conventional 135 degree fixed temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There were Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
