'''CF Chinook Centre''' is the largest indoor shopping mall in Calgary. It is owned by Cadillac Fairview, the same company that owns [[CF Market Mall]]. This one, unlike Market, has voice-evac. The mall is located near the geographic center of the city, and is on MacLeod Trail SW and near Glenmore Trail. This mall was built in 1960, the food court being added in the 1980s, underwent a major renovation in 1997 until 2000, expanded more in 2010, and the food court was once again renovated in 2019.
‘’’CF Chinook Centre’’’ is a large shopping mall located at 6455 Macleod Trail, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is the largest mall in the City of Calgary, and the second largest in Alberta. The mall houses three anchor stores, along with 250 other shops and services. The mall originally opened in 1960, and was expanded in 1960, 1980, 2000 and 2010.  The mall was also renovated in 2000. The fire alarm system was installed in 2000.
<br> The mall also has an 8-story professional tower known as Chinook Professional Tower, a bowling alley, a 900-seat dining hall, and the 16-screen Scotiabank Theatre Chinook. <br>
Some tenants in this mall have their own fire alarm system. All systems are wired to trip each other when one goes into alarm.

====FACP====
This mall is protected by a two-stage voice-evac networked EST3 fire alarm system, installed in 2019It replaced an older EST3 networked fire alarm system which was installed in the 2010 expansions, due to that one having 90 troubles, 23 supervisories, and 11 monitor troubles.  It was so problematic that the piezo in one of the annunciators was defective from sounding so frequently. The current EST3 has voice evac capabilities, and labeled GE EST, potentially new old stock as the GE logo was from 2011-2013. One of the panels is in an FACP room by the parkade, and one is by the security office. When the system goes into alarm, the general alarm is the code-3 1kHz tone and the default message, with all strobes synchronized.
The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system.  The system has over 50 nodes, and the main panel is located in the security office, located in the basement of the mall. The system runs EST’s Signature-series addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The system is equipped with voice evacuation, with custom messages for both first stage and general alarm.  First stage coding is a 20BPM vibrating bell tone, followed by a 120BPM (march time) bell tone in general alarm.

===== Annunciators =====
=====Annunciators=====
There are Edwards EST3-LCDANN annunciators located in several entrances, including Hudsons Bay.  The first floor entrance to the police station has an Edwards EST3-6ANN annunciator.

The annunciators are EST 3-LCDANN and EST 3-6ANN annunciators. They replaced older variants from the 2010 expansion. As mentioned above, the piezo in one of them became defective from sounding a lot, specifically the 3-LCDANN in the food court before 2019.
====Notification Appliances====
=====Second Floor Corridor (1999)=====
Unless otherwise mentioned, all notification appliances are Edwards 965-1A-4RW remote speakers (white, ceiling-mount, 70V). There are Edwards 965-7A-4RW speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, 70V, 15/75cd) for visual coverage. These are typically installed in this pattern: speaker, speaker, speaker/strobe.  Portions of the building have Edwards “Integrity” 757-7A-SS70W speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount, 15/75cd) as deficiency replacements.

=====Main Floor Corridor (1999)=====
The south end of the building has Edwards 965-1A-4RW remote speakers (white, ceiling-mount).  The north end of the building has Edwards 965-1A-8SW remote speakers (white, ceiling-mount).  Some areas have Edwards 757-7A-SS70W speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount, 15/75cd).  There is an Edwards 757-5A-SS70W speaker/strobe (white, wall-mount, 15cd) outside Hot Topic.  Some areas have Edwards 757-1A-SS70W remote speakers (white, ceiling-mount) as deficiency replacements.

=====Food Court=====
The main food court has Edwards 757-7A-SS70W speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount, 15/75cd).  The washrooms have Edwards 965-7A-8RW speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, 15/75cd).

=====Stairwells=====
All stairwells have Edwards 965-3A-8SW speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, square, 30cd).

====Notification Appliances====
=====Tenants=====
The main notification appliances are EST 757-7A-SS70W "Integrity" (white, 70V) speaker/strobes, from around 1997 to 2000. Most of the Integrity speaker/strobes are on the ceiling and have the LKC-1 (ceiling FIRE orientation) lens, however a few have the regular wall orientation lens. The 2010 expansion and food court renovation have EST "Genesis" G4-S7VM (white, wall, 70V, no FIRE marking) speaker/strobes and EST "Genesis" G4-S7 (white, wall, no FIRE marking) speakers. In the Purdy's, there is an EST "Integrity" 965-7A-8RW (white, 70V, 8", 15/75cd) speaker/strobe. In some areas, there are EST "Integrity" 965-7A-4RW (white, 4", round, 70V) speaker/strobes, and EST "Integrity" 965-1A-4RW (white, 4", round) speakers for additional sound coverage. In Nordstrom, there are EST "Integrity" 965-1A-8SW (white, 8", 70V, round) speakers. Near the elevators to the parkade, there is an EST "Integrity" 965-3A-4RW (white, 4", round, 30cd) speaker/strobe installed in the late 1990s, which is an oddball. Near the security office, there are EST 965-7A-8RW speaker/strobes with the LKW-1 wall orientation lenses. In the Professional Tower, there are EST "Integrity" 965-7A-8RW (white, 8", round, 15/75cd) speaker/strobes, and in the stairwells, EST "Integrity" 965-7A-8SW (white, 8", round, 70V, 15/75cd) speaker/strobes, along with EST 965-5A-8SW (15cd) and 965-3A-8SW (30cd) speaker/strobes. There are EST "Integrity" 757-7A-SS70 (red, 70V, 15/75cd) speaker/strobes installed in 1997-2000 in the parkades, but there is one EST 757-5A-SS70 (red, wall mount, 15cd, 70V) speaker/strobe installed after 2010 as a replacement. In the West Parkade there are System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" SPRKA (red, wall) weatherproof speakers with System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" SRKA (red, wall) weatherproof remote strobes set to 30cd each, mounted directly adjacent to the speakers.
All smaller tenants have Edwards 965-7A-8RW speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, 15/75cd).

=====Nordstrom=====
Throughout the store, there is a mix of Edwards 965-7A-8RW speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, 15/75cd) and Edwards 965-1A-8RW remote speakers.

=====Hudson’s Bay=====
All notification appliances are Edwards 965-7A-4RW speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, 15/75cd).

===Initiating Devices===
=====2010 Expansion=====
The notification appliances are a mix of Edwards “Genesis” G4-S7VM speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount) and Edwards G4-S7 remote speakers (white, wall-mount).  These are mounted high on the walls on the second floor, and on the ceiling on the first floor.  Each speaker is tapped at 1 watt, and each strobe is set to 30 candela.

====Pull Stations====
=====Parkade=====
The pull stations are mostly EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage pull stations, the 2010 wing has the first generation (2000s EST logo), with some GE/EST variants as replacements.  The skywalk expansion and food court have the current-generation EST SIGA-270P, installed in 2019. The 1980 part has second-generation Edwards 270-GAO two-stage pull stations (classic shield, no FIRE ALARM) with some 1990s variants (newer shield, FIRE ALARM) the only pull stations to remain intact from the expansion. There is also one 270-GAO with the 270A-SPO font. However, in the original part (1960), there is supposedly an original first-generation Edwards 270-GAO two-stage pull stations (classic shield, FIRE ALARM).
All notification appliances are System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” SPRKA weatherproof remote speakers (red, wall-mount), with System Sensor SRKA remote strobes (red, wall-mount) mounted next to them.

==== Automatic Detection Devices ====
=====Outdoor=====
There are Edwards CS405-7A-T weatherproof remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd) around the exterior of the building.  There is one Edwards 202-7A-T remote strobe (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd) mounted on an overhang by the police station entrance.

None noticed.
===Initiating Devices===
====Pull Stations====
All pull stations are EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.

== Bonus Information ==
====Automatic Detection Devices====
Surprisingly, the skywalk and stairs for it do not have a fire alarm system, however have Kidde PPE120CA hardwired household photoelectric smoke detectors scattered throughout. They are obviously not part of the fire alarm system.
Some areas have EST SIGA-PD addressable photoelectric smoke detectors, mounted on SIGA-SB bases.  Some other areas and elevator shafts have EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors.
