Best Western is a large chain of midrange hotels headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. This particular hotel is located in the Vista Heights neighborhood of Calgary, Alberta. The hotel opened in 1982, and was renovated in 2015. The fire alarm system is not original.

System Specifications

FACP

The hotel is protected by a Mircom FA-1000 conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located at the back entrance, and replaced an Edwards 6616. The system likely does code 3 in alarm.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Simplex 2901-9720 motor bells (6” gong). The bell in the breakfast room failed, and was replaced with a Simplex 2901-9723 motor bell (6” gong).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations are a mix of Mircom MS-401 and Notifier MPS-950B conventional single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are System Sensor 1400A conventional ionization smoke detectors throughout the hotel.
