Northland Professional Centre is a 5-story low rise building mainly used for medical purposes such as dental or orthodontics. The building can be seen right off of Crowchild Trail NW. This building was built in 1978, but has had the current panel since 2012, and the current notification appliances since August 2017. The fire alarm system also has been rewired on the NACs. The system is currently serviced by AE Security.

System Specifications (2017-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Siemens FireFinder XLS fire alarm system. The panel is located in the lobby, and it replaced a Simplex 4207 or 2001 in 2012. The NAC circuits have been rewired in 2017. When the Simplex system was replaced in 2012, all of the initiating devices were replaced with FirePrint devices. However, the notification appliances were kept until 2017. The system does code-3 in alarm.

Notification Appliances

The notification appliances are all from System Sensor's "SpectrAlert Advance" lineup. There are System Sensor P2RA (red, wall-mount) horn/strobes located throughout. For additional visual coverage, there are System Sensor SRA (red, wall-mount) remote strobes in some areas. These were installed in August 2017 in new locations, because the original bells were not loud enough (there was only one bell per floor.) Since then the horn/strobes have been installed in the offices themselves. They are usually set on 30 cd, but there is one on 110cd. For outdoor notification, there is a System Sensor SRKA strobe outside the entrance. The permit issued for this replacement was "Fire alarm upgrade (horns and strobe)"

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All of the pull stations are Siemens HMS-S single-stage, addressable pull stations. These only have English lettering, unlike other Siemens systems installed in Calgary. These are installed in the places of the original pull stations. They were installed in 2012.

Automatic Detection Devices

The smoke detectors are Siemens "FirePrint" FP-11 multi-sensor heat and smoke detectors, installed 2012. They are located throughout.
