Royal Tyrrell Museum is a paleontology and dinosaur museum in Drumheller, located at 1500 N Dinosaur Trail. It is also Canada's only museum that is only for prehistoric life. The museum is also a big tourist attraction for Alberta. It was built in 1985, but has had its current fire alarm system since 2016 after an expansion.

System Specifications (2016-present)

FACP

The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located at the main entrance. It is equipped with the LCDXL1 display. The system runs EST's Signature addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are EST "Genesis" G1R-HDVM horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, no marking, set to 15cd), mounted on EST G1RT-FIRE trim plates; others are not mounted on trim plates.

The Cretaceous Gardens have Edwards WG4RN-HVMC weatherproof horn/strobes (red, no marking, set to 60cd).

For outdoor notification, there is an EST CS405-7A-T (red, 15/75cd) weatherproof remote strobe by the entrance.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are EST SIGC-270B addressable bilingual single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are EST SIGA2-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on SIGA-SB bases.

The air handling units have EST "SuperDuct" SIGA-SD addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors.

There is also a sprinkler system.

Modules

There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.

Former System Specifications (2003-2016)

System Specifications
FACP: Siemens MXL

FACP Location: Near Main Entrance
System Type: Addressable (Two-Stage)
System Line Voltage: 120VAC
NAC Voltage: 24VDC

System Coding: 20BPM (First Stage)

Temporal (GA)
Date of last known Upgrade: N/A
Year Decommissioned: 2016

FACP

The building was protected by a Siemens MXL addressable fire alarm system. The panel was located near the main entrance. The system was configured for two stage operation. The coding was 20BPM in first stage, followed by temporal in general alarm.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances were Siemens U-MMT-MCS-W-B (white, bilingual, wall-mount, multi-candela) multi tone horn/strobes. They were likely set to the horn tone.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations were Siemens MSI-30B addressable two-stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

None noticed.

Bonus Information

Above the outdoor strobe, there is an Edwards "Adaptabel" 333D single-stroke bell (6" gong), left over from the original Edwards 6500 system. It is disconnected.
