The University at Albany is a public research university with campuses in Albany, Rensselaer and Guilderland, NY. It was founded in 1844, is part of the State University of New York system, and enrolls over 17,900 students. The Uptown Campus in Albany is most known for being in weatherdan882002’s UAlbany fire alarm and fire drill videos. This page will cover the School of Business, which replaced the Business Administration building/Catskill building. The building was built in 2013 and has the original fire alarm system.

System Specifications (2013-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100ES addressable fire alarm system. The panel is most likely in the Fire Command Center which is near the entrance, and was installed during construction. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice-evacuation. The tones are unknown, but are most likely slow whoop with the default message.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There is a Simplex 4100ES Remote Command Center at the south entrance. It consists of a Simplex 4100-1292 panel-mounted LCD annunciator unit, a 4100-1244 microphone, and two 4100-1255 8-channel switches, in a 2-bay cabinet.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

All of the notification appliances are from Simplex’s “TrueAlert” line of products. Throughout the building, there are Simplex 4906-9151 (red, wall-mount, multi-candela) speaker/strobes, also installed in the restrooms. In the lobby and other large areas where more sound coverage is required, there are Simplex 4902-9716 (red, wall-mount) speakers. In the classrooms, group study areas and other places where more visual coverage is needed, there are Simplex 4906-9101 (red, wall-mount, multi-candela) remote strobes.

Initating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9003 addressable dual-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on 4098-9792 bases. In open-ceiling areas, there are System Sensor BEAM1224 4-wire conventional projected beam smoke detectors, wired to Simplex 4090-9001 addressable modules.
