Northland Professional Centre is a 5-story low rise building mainly used for medical purposes such as dental or orthodontics. The building can be seen right off of Crowchild Trail NW. This building was built in 1978, but has had the current panel since 2012, and the current notification appliances since August 2017. The fire alarm system also has been rewired on the NACs.

System Specifications

FACP

The fire alarm panel is a Siemens FireFinder XLS. It replaced a Simplex 4207 or 2001 in 2012. The NAC circuits have been rewired in 2017. When the Simplex system was replaced in 2012, all of the initiating devices were replaced with FirePrint devices. However, the notification appliances were kept until 2017. The system is currently serviced by AE Security.

Notification Appliances

The notification appliances are System Sensor SpectrAlert Advanced P2R (red, wall) horn/strobes and SR (red, wall) strobes. These were installed in August 2017 in new locations, because the original bells were not loud enough (there was only one bell per floor.) Since then the horn/strobes have been installed in the rooms themselves. They are usually set on 30 cd, but there is one on 110cd. For outdoor notification, there is a System Sensor SRK strobe outside the entrance.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All of the pull stations are Siemens HMS-S. These only have English lettering, unlike other Siemens systems installed in Calgary. These are installed in the places of the original pull stations. They were installed in 2012.

Automatic Detection Devices

The smoke detectors are Siemens "FirePrint" FP-11 multi-sensor heat and smoke detectors, installed 2012.

Previous System Specifications

FACP

The original panel was a Simplex 4207 or 2001 from 1978. This was replaced in 2012 due to not being addressable, so it was replaced with a Siemens FireFinder XLS.

Notification Appliances

The original notification appliances were bells. There was only one bell per floor. The original bells were Simplex 4080 10" vibrating bells. The lower floor had an Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell, because the original bell stopped ringing. These bells were kept on the Siemens system until August 2017 because there was only one bell per floor, so it was not loud enough in the dental clinic rooms, and for that reason had to rewire the NAC circuits to go into the rooms themselves.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The original pull stations were Simplex 4251-20. They were replaced in 2012 because the new system was addressable.

Automatic Detection Devices

The original smoke detectors were Simplex smoke detectors from 1978, replaced with Siemens smoke detectors due to not being addressable.
