Manchester Centre is a City of Calgary operations centre. This page will cover Building E, located at 2808 Spiller Road SE, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The complex consists of three buildings: the North Tower, which was built in 1957, the Annex, built in 1961 and 1970, and the South Tower, built in 1982. The fire alarm system has been upgraded several times; the most recent upgrade was a full system replacement completed on April 20th, 2006.

FACP

The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. This is a networked system with 5 nodes. The nodes are located in the following areas:

• Node 1: South Tower entrance vestibule
• Node 2: South Tower 2nd Floor Electrical Room
• Node 3: Annex 6 Mechanical Room
• Node 4: Annex 2 Entry Hallway
• Node 5: North Tower 2nd Floor Electrical Room

The system runs Edwards’ Signature addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice evacuation. The evacuation signal is a temporal bell tone followed by a custom message.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are Edwards “Integrity” 757-3A-SS70W speaker/strobes (white, wall/ceiling-mount, 70V, 30cd).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are EST SIGA-270 addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are EST SIGA-HRS addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors throughout the annex buildings, and in the mechanical and electrical rooms of both towers.
There are EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in all stairwells and elevator lobbies, plus some corridors.
Some areas have Edwards SIGA-PD addressable photoelectric smoke detectors as deficiency replacements.
All aforementioned detectors are mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases.
There are EST SIGA-DH duct detector housings with SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke heads on all air handling units.

Modules

There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are EST SIGA-CR addressable relay modules serving various purposes.

EOLs

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end of line resistor plates on all signal and sprinkler circuits.
