Peter Lougheed Centre is a hospital located at 3500 26 Ave NE, Calgary, Alberta. It has an area of 506,000 sq ft, 600 patient beds, and has over 34 clinics. It was originally built in 1988, and was expanded in 2008. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 2010; the speakers in the main building are original.

System Specifications (2010-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a networked Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. There are various panel locations, the main node is in the security office. The system runs EST’s Signature addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice evacuation. The system is also configured for two-stage operation, the tones are unknown at this time. Live “Code Red” pages are made from the panel mic during an alarm condition.

Accessories[edit | edit source]

There is an EST “FireWorks” graphic computer in the CACF room.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There are EST 3-LCDANN LCD annunciators at every nurse’s station, and in some mechanical rooms.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Original Building (1988)[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances are the original Atlas Sound SVTF-77 speakers (red, flush-mount).

2008 Expansion[edit | edit source]

The expansion has a mix of EST “Integrity” 965-3A-8RW speaker/strobes (white, round, ceiling-mount, 8”, 30cd),and EST “Genesis” GC-S7VM speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, set to 30cd)/

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are mostly EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building. There are some EST SIGA-HRS addressable heat detectors in some areas. All detectors are mounted on SIGA-SB bases. The air handling units have EST SIGA-SD addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors. There is also a sprinkler system with waterflow detection.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s flow and tamper switches.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end of line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
