Savory Elementary is an elementary school located at 2721 Grainger Rd, Victoria, BC. It is part of the Sooke School District. It was built in 1966, but was rebuilt in one area in 1992 and 2011, due to arson. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 2021.

System Specifications (2021-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Notifier NFS-320C addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the electrical room. The system runs Notifier’s FlashScan addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There is a Notifier LCD2-80 LCD annunciator paired with two ACM-24AT LED annunciators by the entrance.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances are System Sensor “L-Series” P2RLA horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, bilingual lettering, set to low volume electromechanical/15cd). These are installed in the places of the former bells; there is only one on the second floor, set to high volume.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are Notifier NBG-12LX addressable dual-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier FSP-951A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the school, and FST-951A thermal heat detectors in some areas. All detectors are mounted on System Sensor B300A-6 bases. The air handling units have System Sensor D1420A 4-wire conventional photoelectric duct smoke detectors; these are the only devices to remain from the previous system, and are wired to FMM-101A addressable modules.

There is one Notifier DNRA duct smoke detector housing, with an FSP-951A addressable photoelectric head.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier EOL-CR end-of-line resistor plates on all signal circuits.

Former System Specifications (1970s-2021)[edit | edit source]

Former System Specifications
FACP: Edwards 6616
FACP Location: Electrical Room
System Type: Conventional
System Line Voltage: 120VAC
NAC Voltage: 24VFWR
System Coding: Continuous
Date of last known Upgrade: 2012
Year Decommissioned: 2021

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building was protected by an Edwards 6616 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in the electrical room. It was installed in 1992 after the school suffered a fire. The system coding was continuous. The system was replaced due to a constant trouble condition, indicating a main board failure.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances were Simplex 4080 vibrating bells (10” gong); these were installed in the 1970s. There was only one bell on the second floor.

There was one Simplex 2901-9724 motor bell (10” gong) installed as a deficiency replacement.

The parts suffered by a fire in 2011 had Edwards MB10-24 motor bells (10” gong); there were formerly Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong) that were installed after the 1992 fire.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations except one were Simplex 4251-20 conventional single-action pull stations.

There was one Edwards 270-SPO installed in the 1980s as a deficiency replacement.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There were Simplex ionization smoke detectors located throughout the school, model to be confirmed.

There were also Edwards 281B-PL conventional rate-of-rise/fixed heat detectors installed in 2010; these were also in the 2011 part.

There was one original Edwards 241 rate-of-rise/fixed heat detector in one area.

System Sensor 5601A conventional rate-of-rise/fixed heat detectors could be found in some areas as deficiency replacements.

On the air handling units, there were System Sensor D1420A 4-wire photoelectric duct smoke detectors; these remain on the current system.

There was one EST 6260A-100 duct detector housing, with an Edwards 6250C ionization smoke detector in it.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There were Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
