Sturgeon Community Hospital is a 167-bed hospital located at 201 Boudreau Road, St Albert, Alberta. The facility is owned and operated by Alberta Health Services. The hospital was built in 1992, and the fire alarm system was mostly upgraded in 2009; most speakers are original.

System Specifications (2009-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Siemens FireFinder XLS addressable fire alarm system. There are numerous panels as part of a network; one node is in the main entrance vestibule. The system runs Siemens’ FirePrint addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice-evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation, however the tones and/or messages are unknown at this time. Live “Code Red” announcements are made by security in an alarm condition.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There is a graphic annunciator in the main entrance vestibule.
All nurses’ stations have Siemens SSD annunciators.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances in original building are Arnscott ASAL82G25W speakers (ceiling-mount, square, 8”).
There are some Arnscott ASAL82G11W speakers (ceiling-mount, round, 8”).
The 2009 expansion has Siemens SE-MC-CW-B speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, set to 15cd).

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are Siemens HMS-2S addressable two-stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

Most areas, including all patient units have Siemens HFP-11 addressable multisensor heat/smoke detectors.
Some areas have Siemens HFPT-11 addressable thermal heat detectors.
There are Siemens FDO-421 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors as deficiency replacements.
The air handling units have Siemens FDBZ492-HR addressable duct smoke detectors.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are Siemens HTRI-D addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are Siemens HTRI-R addressable relay modules for fire door closing and HVAC shutdown.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Siemens EL-300C end-of-line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
