Super 8 is the world’s largest chain of budget hotels. The company was founded in Aberdeen, South Dakota, in 1974. Today, the company is owned and operated by Wyndham, and is headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey. This particular hotel is located at 175 Higgins Line, St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador. It opened its doors in 2006, and still retains the original system.

System Specifications (2006-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The hotel is protected by an EST QuickStart QS4 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located at the main entrance. The system runs EST’s Signature addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There is an EST QuickStart QSA-2-S annunciator located behind the front desk. The annunciator is equipped with an EST QS4-CPU-2 control card and two SL30 zone annunciation cards.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Common Areas[edit | edit source]

There are Edwards "Genesis" G1R-HDVM horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, no lettering, set to 15cd) throughout the hotel's common areas.

Guest Rooms[edit | edit source]

All guest rooms have Edwards 683-1CR mini-horns (red, wall-mount).

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are EST SIGA-270 addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are EST SIGA-IS addressable ionization smoke detectors throughout the hotel, mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases. Some areas have EST SIGA-PD addressable photoelectric smoke detectors as deficiency replacements.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
