Didsbury District Health Services is the primary healthcare complex for a portion of south-central Alberta. The complex is owned and operated by Alberta Health Services. This page will cover Unit 4, located at 1210 20 Ave, in Didsbury, Alberta, Canada. The building was built in 1971 as an extended-care wing, and was decommissioned in 2018. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 1984, and had a panel replacement in 2018. This system was converted to single-stage operation after being decommissioned, as occupancy no longer required a two-stage system.
System Specifications (2018-present)
FACP
The building is protected by a Notifier NFS2-640C conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main electrical room. The system utilizes Notifier XP6-MAA zone module cards to accommodate all conventional devices, and the system coding is temporal.
The NFS2-640C replaced an Edwards Custom 6500.
Annunciators
There is a Notifier NCA-2C annunciator at the main entrance.
Notification Appliances
Most notification appliances are Edwards “Adaptabel” 333D vibrating bells (6” and 10” gongs, converted from single-stroke).
Some areas have Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6” gong) and 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong).
There is a Mircom BL-10B motor bell (10” gong) in one corridor.
There is a Notifier KMS-6-24A motor bell (6” gong) by the main electrical room.
Initiating Devices
Pull Stations
Most pull stations are Edwards 270-GAO conventional two-stage single-action pull stations.
Some areas have Edwards 274-112 conventional two-stage single-action pull stations.
There is a Mircom MS-402 conventional two-stage single-action pull station by the main electrical room as a deficiency replacement.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are System Sensor C2W-BA conventional photoelectric and EST EDW1400A conventional ionization smoke detectors in all patient rooms, corridors and stairwells.
There is a System Sensor 2400A conventional photoelectric smoke detector in one corridor.
There are a mix of the following conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in almost every room:
- System Sensor 5601A
- FDD CR-135
- Edwards 281C
- Edwards 281A.
Modules
There is a Notifier XP6-RA addressable relay card in the main FACP.
EOLs
There are Edwards EOL-P1 end of line resistor plates on all circuits.
