The main notification appliances are Wheelock "Exceder" HSWC (white, ceiling) horn/strobes and HNWC (white, ceiling) horns. There are a few Wheelock Exceder STWC (white, ceiling) remote strobes as well. Some areas, such as short hallways, have Wheelock Exceder HSW (white, wall) horn/strobes. The stairways have Wheelock Exceder HNW (white, wall) horns. Outside, on the balconies, there are Wheelock Exceder HSR (red, wall) horn/strobes and HNR (red, wall) horns. The gondola boarding and loading area has System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advanced" P2RK (red, wall, weatherproof) and P2R (red, wall) horn/strobes, the only non-Wheelock notification appliances in the building. They are there because the SpectrAlert Advanced series can get to as loud as 101 dB, and they need to be heard over the noise.

Banff Gondola is a tourist attraction in Banff, AB. This page covers the upper terminal at the end of the gondola line. The original building was built in 1957, but had a renovation in 1997, and was majorly redeveloped in 2016. The current upper terminal building was completed in September 2016, has four floors, and has all of the original system components. The original upper terminal had 3 floors.

System Specifications (New Upper Terminal)

FACP

The fire alarm panel is a Notifier NFS2-3030C, but it's not visible, it's in an unknown location. It has been in the building since 2016, and has had no modifications.

Notification Appliances

The main notification appliances are Wheelock "Exceder" HSWC (white, ceiling) horn/strobes and HNWC (white, ceiling) horns. There are a few Wheelock Exceder STWC (white, ceiling) remote strobes as well. Some areas, such as short hallways, have Wheelock Exceder HSW (white, wall) horn/strobes. The stairways have Wheelock Exceder HNW (white, wall) horns. Outside, on the balconies, there are Wheelock Exceder HSR (red, wall) horn/strobes and HNR (red, wall) horns. The gondola boarding and loading area has System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" P2RK (red, wall, weatherproof) horn/strobes and System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" P2R (red, wall) horn/strobes, the only non-Wheelock notification appliances in the building. They are there because the SpectrAlert Advance series can get to as loud as 101 dB, and they need to be heard over the machine noise.

Pull Stations

The pull stations are Notifier NBG-12LX dual-action addressable pull stations, flashing green to indicate FlashScan on the NFS2-3030C.

Automatic Detection Devices

The smoke detectors are Notifier FSP-851 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors. Some have sounders on them.

System Specifications (original building)

FACP

The fire alarm panel was most likely an Edwards ESA2000 or EST 6632. The panel was not visible, it was in an unknown location. The system was in use until 2015-16, when the new upper terminal was built.

Notification Appliances

Most of the notification appliances were Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells on EST 403-5A-R "Integrity" strobe plates. The hallway outside of the store had an Edwards 6100D 6" "Durabel" vibrating bell on an EST 403-5A-R strobe plate. Why it was there was unknown. The store had an EST 692-5A-HSR "Integrity" mini-horn/strobe, due to no room for a bell/strobe. The gondola loading and boarding area had EST 757-5A-T "Integrity" horn/strobes, due to loud ambient noise from the gondolas.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All of the pull stations were Edwards 270-SPO from 1997.

Automatic Detection Devices

The smoke detectors were Edwards EDW1451A ionization smoke detectors from 1997.
