The fire alarm control panel is a Simplex 4100ES (addressable). The panel is located in the main entrance, and was installed in 2016. It replaced a Simplex 4002 from around 1989-1990. The panel is a little bit overkill for the size of the school, but that may be because the 4002 had 32 zones. There was previously a 4007ES during this replacement, but it wasn't big enough and led to them installing a 4100ES. For the alarm, all strobes are synchronized, and all horns do code-3.

The fire alarm panel was a 32-zone Simplex 4002 (conventional). It was installed around 1989-1990, and was replaced in 2016 due to being too sensitive and old. The company that serviced the 4002 said it was one of the best-performing systems in Calgary. The 4002 was set to continuous for alarm.

The main notification appliances were Simplex 2901-9720 motor bells. In the gymnasium, however, were three Simplex 2901-9722 motor bells because of a louder ambient noise level. The wood shop also had two 2901-9722 bells.  They were installed when the 4002 was installed in 1989-1990, however in the cafeteria, there was an Amseco MSB-6-PV4 motor bell, as a replacement due to one of the 2901-9720 bells no longer functioning. YYCsFireAlarmNimrod was able to get a Simplex 2901-9720 and a 2901-9722, until a thief called Theo decided to steal his 2901-9720. As of September 12, 2020 he has got the Simplex 2901-9720 bell back. The bells are now in use on [[YYCsFireAlarmNimrod's Basement]].

R.T. Alderman School is a junior high school located in the neighboorhood of Maple Ridge, SE Calgary. It teaches grades 5-9, and is part of the Calgary Board of Education. The school was built in 1966, but the system is not original to the school. User YYCsFireAlarmNimrod went here, but no longer attends. He has a couple of components from the former system, please read "Former System Specifications" for what he has.

System Specifications

FACP

The fire alarm control panel is a Simplex 4100ES (addressable). The panel is located in the main entrance, and was installed in 2016. It replaced a Simplex 4002 from 1989. The panel is a little bit overkill for the size of the school, but that may be because the 4002 had 32 zones. There was previously a 4007ES during this replacement, but it wasn't big enough and led to them installing a 4100ES. For the alarm, all strobes are synchronized, and all horns do code-3.

Notification Appliances

All of the notification appliances are Simplex "TrueAlert ES" 49AV-WRF (red, wall) addressable horn/strobes. These were installed in 2016 when the 4100ES was installed. YYCsFireAlarmNimrod was one of the first enthusiasts to ever hear these go off. They sound like the TrueAlert horns, but crossed with a Wheelock AS.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations are Simplex 4099-9004 single-action addressable IDNet pull stations with an LED. Installed 2016 when the 4100ES was installed.

Automatic Detection Devices

The smoke detectors are Simplex "TrueAlarm" 4098-9754 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors. Installed 2016.

Former System Specifications

FACP

The fire alarm panel was a 32-zone Simplex 4002 (conventional). It was installed around 1989, and was replaced in 2016 due to being too sensitive and old. The company that serviced the 4002 said it was one of the best-performing systems in Calgary. The 4002 was set to continuous for alarm.

Notification Appliances

The main notification appliances were Simplex 2901-9720 motor bells. In the gymnasium, however, were three Simplex 2901-9722 motor bells because of a louder ambient noise level. The wood shop also had two 2901-9722 bells. They were installed when the 4002 was installed in 1989, however in the cafeteria, there was an Amseco MSB-6-PV4 motor bell, as a replacement due to one of the 2901-9720 bells no longer functioning. YYCsFireAlarmNimrod was able to get a Simplex 2901-9720 and a 2901-9722, until a thief called Theo decided to steal his 2901-9720. As of September 12, 2020 he has got the Simplex 2901-9720 bell back. The bells are now in use on YYCsFireAlarmNimrod's Basement.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations were Simplex 4251-20/2099-9201 (but mistakenly written 2099-901) single action, conventional T-bar pull stations. Installed when the 4002 was installed in 1989. There was one Simplex 2099-9754 pull station at the entrance, as a replacement in 2000s. They were removed in 2016 due to not being addressable. YYCsFireAlarmNimrod got two of these pull stations, but a stupid thief called Theo stole them as well. On September 12, 2020 he got them back. One pull station was broken, the other one is now in use on YYCsFireAlarmNimrod's Basement

Automatic Detection Devices

The smoke detectors when the 4002 was installed were Simplex 2098-9110 conventional ionization smoke detectors. A few detectors quit working over the years, and were replaced with Simplex 4098-9603 ionization conventional smoke detectors. All were replaced with the addressable TrueAlarms in 2016 due to not being addressable. YYCsFireAlarmNimrod still has one of the 2098-9110 smoke detectors! It is now in use on YYCsFireAlarmNimrod's Basement
