George Bush Intercontinental Airport is an international airport located in Houston, Texas, USA. This airport serves the Houston area, and is the second largest airport in the state of Texas. The airport has 5 terminals, each with their own system. All systems, however, are wired to trip each other when one goes into alarm. Only the systems in terminals B, C, and E are known. Terminal D will be included in this page, but is speculation. Terminals A and B are the oldest, and opened in 1969. Terminal C opened in 1981, followed by Terminal D in 1990. Terminal E is the newest, and opened officially in 2004. Only Terminal E has its original system.

System Specifications (Terminal B) (2014-present)

System Specifications
FACP: Notifier NFS2-3030
System Type: Addressable (Networked)
System Line Voltage: 120VAC
NAC Voltage: 70.7VRMS (audible)
24VDC (visuals)
Date of last known Upgrade: 2014
Year Opened: 1969

This system was installed in 2014, following a large renovation.

FACP

The terminal is protected by a Notifier NFS2-3030 addressable fire alarm system. The panel location is unknown. This panel is equipped with a DVC (Digital Voice Command) voice evac module. The system runs Notifier’s FlashScan addressable protocol, and does the default Notifier slow whoop and female message in alarm.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are from System Sensor’s “SpectrAlert Advance” line of products. Most areas have System Sensor SPSW speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount, 70v). The candela setting is unknown on these. The restrooms have System Sensor SW remote strobes (white, wall-mount), set to 15 candela.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Notifier NBG-12LX addressable dual-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Notifier FSP-851 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the terminal.

System Specifications (Terminal C) (2000s-present)

System Specifications
FACP: Notifier NFS2-3030
System Type: Addressable (Networked)
System Line Voltage: 120VAC
NAC Voltage: 70.7VRMS (audible)
24VDC (visuals)
Date of last known Upgrade: 2017
Year Opened: 1981

This system was installed in the 2000s, and received a panel upgrade in 2017.

Most notification appliances are Wheelock E70-24MCW-FW speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount, 70v). There are also some Wheelock RSS-24MCW-FW remote strobes (white, wall-mount). In the main hallways of the terminal, these are arranged in a pattern of: Speaker/strobe, strobe, speaker/strobe, strobe.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Notifier BNG-1TS conventional single-action pull stations. These likely have Notifier FMM-101 addressable modules behind them.

Automatic Detection Devices

None noticed.

System Specifications (Terminal D) (1990-present, will be decommissioned soon)

System Specifications
FACP: Honeywell DeltaNet FS-90?
System Type: Conventional
System Line Voltage: 120VAC
NAC Voltage: 24VDC
Date of last known Upgrade: N/A
Year Opened: 1990

This system is original from 1990, and only the notification appliances have been confirmed. This terminal will be redeveloped soon, so this system’s days are numbered.

FACP

The fire alarm panel for this terminal is unknown, but could be a Honeywell DeltaNet FS-90. No additional info is known about the panel.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are System Sensor MASS-24LO sounder/strobes (red, ceiling-mount). The tones are unknown.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations are unknown, but are likely either Honeywell S464A single-action pull stations, or Fire-Lite BG-10 dual-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

No information is known.

System Specifications (Terminal E) (2002-present)

System Specifications
FACP: Johnson Control IFC-3030
System Type: Addressable (Networked)
System Line Voltage: 120VAC
NAC Voltage: 70.7VRMS (audible)
24VDC (visuals)
Date of last known Upgrade: N/A
Year Opened: 2002

This system is original from 2002.

FACP

The terminal is protected by a Johnson Controls IFC-3030 addressable fire alarm system. The panel location is unknown. This panel is equipped with a Notifier AMG-2 tone/message generator. The system does a code 3 whoop, followed by a female message in alarm. The system runs Notifier’s FlashScan protocol.
