The Kananaskis Mountain Lodge is a 3-story hotel in Kananaskis, AB. It was built in 1987, and the system is original! The panel, the pull stations and most bells are original. The hotel was previously known as Delta Lodge. Please note that this is from 2014, when a user stayed here. It is likely there have been system modifications.

FACP

This hotel is protected by a large two-stage Edwards 6500 fire alarm system. The panel was located in a room behind the front desk. When the system goes into alarms, the panels make the bells do short blasts every few seconds in first stage, and continuous in general alarm as confirmed by a guest directory in the "If You Hear An Alarm" section of a safety page. It says "This hotel is protected by a two-stage fire alarm system. If you hear a loud, continuous ringing from alarm bells, you must evacuate the building."

Notification Appliances

The main notification appliances are the original Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells from 1987. Most of them are behind metal grills, except for the parking garage, pool area, basement and The Fireweed Grill. A 439D-10AWC broke down in the 2000s on the 3rd floor and was replaced by a Notifier KMS-6-24A motor bell, again, behind a grill.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

Although two-stage, the pull stations are single stage, so two initiating devices have to be activated to go into full alarm. The pull stations were Edwards 275-C111.
