From FireAlarmPedia
(→‎Notification Appliances: It wasn't a former system, the NACs were just changed.)
(Model is HFP-11 because the panel is an XLS. FP-11 is for the MXL or an XLS using an MLC (MXL Legacy protocol) loop card.)

Northland Professional Centre is a 5-story low rise building mainly used for medical purposes such as dental or orthodontics. The building can be seen right off of Crowchild Trail NW. This building was built in 1978, and the fire alarm system is not original; most of the system was installed in 2012, and the notification appliances were installed in 2017.

System Specifications (2012-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Siemens FireFinder XLS fire alarm system. The panel is located in the lobby, replacing a Simplex 4207 in 2012. When the system was replaced, all of the initiating devices were replaced with FirePrint devices, the original bells remaining until the NAC overhaul in 2017. The system runs Siemens' FirePrint addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are from System Sensor's "SpectrAlert Advance" line of products, and were installed in 2017. The main notification appliances are System Sensor P2RA horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 2-wire, most set to 30cd), and are even installed in offices. There are also System Sensor SR remote strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 30cd) in areas needing more visual coverage. These were installed in new locations, as the bells were not loud enough; there was only one bell per floor.

For outdoor notification, there is a System Sensor SRKA (red, wall-mount, set to 75cd) weatherproof strobe outside the entrance. The notification appliances are possibly synchronized via a System Sensor MDL.

Former Notification Appliances

All notification appliances except one the original Simplex 4080 vibrating bells (10" gong). There was an Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell in the lobby as a deficiency replacement. They were kept on the Siemens system despite the upgrade, and were later replaced replaced in 2017 due to volume concerns; there was only one bell per floor and each bell was located in the elevator lobby.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Siemens HMS-S addressable pull stations. These were installed in the places of the original pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

All smoke detectors are Siemens "FirePrint" HFP-11 addressable multi-sensor heat and smoke detectors, located throughout.
