737 13 Ave SW is the address of a midsize office building in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The building was most recently occupied by Canadian Blood Services. The building was built in 1979, and the fire alarm system was partially upgraded in the 2000s; most notification appliances and pull stations are original.
System Specifications (2000s-present)
FACP
The building is protected by an EST QuickStart QS4 hybrid-addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main electrical room. It replaced an Edwards Custom 6500. The system runs EST’s Signature addressable protocol, and the system coding is continuous.
Annunciators
There is an EST QuickStart QSA-1-S annunciator in the main entrance vestibule with an EST QS4-CPU-1 control card.
Notification Appliances
All notification appliances but one are Edwards “Adaptahorn” 885D remote horns (red, surface mount), mostly mounted behind grilles.
There is a System Sensor “SpectrAlert” S2415A remote strobe in the main lobby (red, wall-mount, 15cd) mounted behind a grille.
Initiating Devices
Pull Stations
Most pull stations are Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations.
Some areas have Tyco/Grinnell MS-401GR conventional single-action pull stations as deficiency replacements. There is a Notifier NFM-950B conventional single-action pull station in the basement as a deficiency replacement.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are System Sensor C2W-BA conventional photoelectric smoke detectors in some areas. There are EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in the elevator lobbies and shafts, mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases. Some areas have FDD CR-135 conventional 135°F fixed/rate-of-rise heat detectors, and some areas have FDD CF-135 conventional 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors.
Modules
There are EST SIGA-CR addressable relay modules controlling the elevator emergency recall. There are EST SIGA-IM isolator modules on the SLC loop.
