Toronto Pearson International Airport is the largest airport in Canada. It is located iat 6301 Silver Dart Drive in Mississauga, Ontario, and it serves the city of Toronto, along with most of Southern Ontario. Terminal 1 was built in 2003, and Terminal 3 was built in 1991. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 2021.

System Specifications (2021-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The airport is protected by a Simplex 4100ES addressable fire alarm system. The panel locations are unknown, and are part of an airport-wide network. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation, however the tones and/or messages are unknown at this time.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

The main notification appliances are Simplex “TrueAlert” 4906-9103 remote strobes (white, wall-mount, multi-candela, SmartSync), likely set to 75 candela.

Areas with lower ceilings have Simplex “TrueAlert” 4906-9104 remote strobes (white, ceiling-mount, multi-candela, SmartSync), likely set to 75 candela.

Some of the strobes have bilingual lettering on them.

The restrooms and some other areas have Siemens SET-CW speakers (white, ceiling-mount), left over.

In the main terminal, the audio for the system goes through the PA system.

The PA speakers consist of Arnscott C81-708-11 8" coaxial ceiling speakers (round baffle) in the main terminal, Arnscott C41-704-15 5" coaxial ceiling speakers in low ceilings (round baffle), and GAP-15T 15 watt paging horn speakers.

There is also one Arnscott 4HV-870 vandal-resistant horn speaker.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9008CAB IDNet addressable two-stage single-action pull stations. These have a MagLock button, and have an additional set of normally closed contacts.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 4098-9714 IDNet addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the facility, mounted on Simplex 4098-9792 bases.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.

There are Simplex 4090-9002 addressable relay modules serving various purposes.

There are Simplex 4090-9116 isolator modules on each SLC.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 2081-9040C end-of-line resistor plates on all sprinkler and strobe circuits.

System Specifications (former system, Main Terminal) (2003-2021)[edit | edit source]

System Specifications
FACP: Siemens MXLV

FACP Location: Unknown
System Type:Addressable
System Line Voltage: 120VAC
NAC Voltage:70.7VRMS/IED amp (audible) 24VDC(visual)
Date of last known Upgrade: 2003?
Year Decomissioned: 2021

FACP[edit | edit source]

The airport was protected by a Siemens MXLV addressable fire alarm system. The panel locations are unknown, but the size and age of the terminal suggest it was an MXLV. The system ran Siemens' FirePrint addressable protocol, and was equipped with voice-evacuation. The system was configured for two-stage operation. There were messages for both stages.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

There were Siemens CU-MCS bilingual strobes throughout the terminal.

The restrooms had Siemens SET-CW speakers (white, 70V). These speakers are still in use on the Simplex system.

In the main terminal, the audio for the system went through the Arnscott PA speakers.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations were Siemens MSI-30BC addressable two-stage single-action pull stations. Most of these were replaced during the upgrade, but some can still be found in the gate hallways, however they are likely decommissioned, as the Simplex panel cannot operate them.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There were Siemens FP-11 multisensor smoke/heat detectors throughout the terminal.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There were Siemens TRI-M addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.
