736 8 Avenue SW (AKA Boysen Petro Fina) is an 11-storey office building in downtown Calgary. Like many buildings of its kind, it currently sits mostly vacant due to the economic crash currently occurring. It was built in 1958, but the system is not original. Due to an agreement between the Wiki and the servicing company, the servicing info will not be disclosed.
System Specifications
FACP
The building is protected by a Mircom FlexNet QX-5000 fire alarm system. The panel is located in the CACF room, near the main entrance. The system is voice evac, but it is unknown what tones or messages it plays. The system is conventional, and has zone cards in it, as opposed to SLCs. It replaced a Simplex LifeAlarm (2001-8001) in about 2014.
Notification Appliances
All notification appliances are Simplex “LifeAlarm” 2902-9732 speakers (red, surface-mount). They were installed in the late 1980s.
Initiating Devices
Pull Stations
Most pull stations are Simplex 2099-9201 single-action “T-bar” pull stations. However, the pull station at the main entrance was replaced with a Mircom MS-401 single-action pull station.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are smoke detectors, but the models are unknown at this time.
Bonus Information
There are Edwards 364 “Fire Horn” horns in the parkade, left over from the original system. Once the Simplex system was installed, the horns were repurposed, and are now used as refrigerant alarms for the mechanical room. They are still in use, despite being over 60 years old.
