Stephen Avenue Place is an 41-story office tower and retail hub located at 700 2 St SW in Downtown Calgary, AB. It was completed in 1976, and was formerly known as the Scotia Centre. There has been a recent renovation, so the fire alarm system is not entirely original.

System Specifications

FACP

The building is protected by a two-stage, voice evac Simplex 4100ES fire alarm system. It is unknown where the panels are, but there are more than one, and it is networked to the Hudson's Bay next door. The system runs Simplex's IDNet addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The tones and messages are unknown at this time.

Notification Appliances

The notification appliances are Simplex "TrueAlert" 4906-9154 (white, ceiling mount, multi-candela) speaker/strobes. There are also some Simplex "LifeAlarm" 2902-9316 (square, 8") speakers left over from the previous system, likely disconnected.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations are Simplex 4099-9004CA addressable, IDNet, two-stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Simplex 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors located throughout, mounted on 4098-9792 bases.

FACP Location: Unknown
System Type: Addressable
System Line Voltage: 120VAC

FACP

The building was previously protected by a Simplex 4100U addressable fire alarm system. The panels were also networked to the one in the Hudson's Bay. Like the current, these were also two-stage and voice-evac. These were replaced in 2020 with the new Simplex 4100ES panels. The system ran Simplex's MAPNET addressable protocol.

Notification Appliances

The notification appliances were all Simplex "LifeAlarm" 2902-9316 (square, 8") speakers. Some are still installed after the upgrade, however disconnected.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations were Simplex 2099-9107C two-stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

None remembered.
