Costco is a members only sales club. This location is in Beacon Hill Shopping Centre in NW Calgary, and was built in 2006. The fire alarm system is original to the store. The panel, most notification appliances, and 99% of the pull stations are original. The system is serviced by Johnson Controls, formerly Tyco Integrated Fire & Security.
System Specifications
FACP
The store is protected by a Mircom FX-2000 "fire control system." The fire alarm panel was installed in 2006 when the store was built, so it is obviously original. There is an annunciator at the entrance, and the panel itself is right beside the returns desk.
Annunciators
There is a Mircom DSPL-420DS annunciator at the entrance.
Notification Appliances
Most of the notification appliances are the original Mircom FHS-240R (red) horn/strobes. Two horn/strobes have been replaced, and were replaced with the following: In 2011-12, there was an FHS-240R with its strobe ripped out. It has been replaced with a Mircom FHS-340R (red) horn/strobe. At the photography desk, an FHS-240R broke down and was replaced with a System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" PC4RA (red, ceiling, 4-wire) horn/strobe in summer of 2017. In the meat packaging, there is a Mircom FHS-240W (white) horn/strobe to blend in with the wall, which is original. The freezers and dairy rooms have System Sensor "SpectrAlert" P1224MCKA (red, wall, weatherproof) horn/strobes, which are also original. However, in November 2021, the P1224MCKA had failed in the produce cooler, and was replaced with a System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" P2RKA (red, wall-mount, weatherproof) horn/strobe, again on the ceiling. For outdoor notification, there are two System Sensor "SpectrAlert" S1224MCK (red, wall, weatherproof) remote strobes, one at the entrance, and one behind the store. The System Sensor SpectrAlert horn/strobes and strobes, despite not being Mircom, are also original to the store. As of March 6, 2021 the bakery is getting renovated, and it is unknown if the FHS-240R horn/strobe in there still exists.
