The Bow is a high-rise office building located at 500 Centre Street Southeast, in Downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The tower is the second tallest building in Calgary. The building was completed in 2012, and officially opened in June of 2013. The fire alarm system is original, and is serviced by Johnson Controls.
System Specifications
FACP
The building is protected by a Simplex 4100ES addressable fire alarm system. This is a networked system with many panels, however the main nodes are located in the CACF room, accessible via an exterior door on the north side of the building. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation, however the messages and/or tones are unknown at this time.
Notification Appliances
Most notification appliances are Simplex “TrueAlert” 4906-9154 speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, set to 70V/15cd). These are custom painted black in most areas. For outdoor notification, there is a Simplex 4906-9105 weatherproof remote strobe (red, wall-mount) outside the CACF room.
Initiating Devices
Pull Stations
All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9004CA addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9774 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on Simplex 4098-9776 addressable bases. The building is also equipped with a sprinkler system.
