Canadian Tire is a Canadian hardware/auto parts store chain. This particular store is located at 11940 Sarcee Trail Northwest, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in the Beacon Hill shopping area. The store opened in 2008, and the fire alarm system is mostly original, with replacement parts being installed as deficiencies occur.

System Specifications (2008-present)

FACP

The building is protected by an EST QuickStart QS4 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the automotive entrance vestibule, and was installed in the early 2010s, replacing the original panel which was also a QuickStart QS4, due to CPU issues. The system runs EST’s Signature addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances

All indoor notification appliances are Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong) on EST 403-5A-R strobe plates (15cd). The garden centre and exterior of the building have Edwards MB6-24 motor bells (6” gong) with EST CS405-7A-T weatherproof remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd) mounted below them. The outdoor bells were installed in 2020, replacing Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6” gong) for unknown reasons.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are EST SIGA-270 addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are no detectors present on the sales floor, as there is a sprinkler system protecting the building.

Modules

There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.
