HI Banff Alpine Centre is a hostel located at 801 Hidden Ridge Way, in Banff, Alberta, Canada. It consists of two buildings, the main building, built in the 1950s and renovated in 1986 as a hostel, and the Mary Belle Building, built in 1998. The main building's fire alarm system was upgraded in 2017, and the Mary Belle Building has the original fire alarm system.

The building is protected by a Notifier NFS-320C addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system runs Notifier’s FlashScan addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

There are Notifier FSP-851 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in some areas.
There are Notifier FST-851RA addressable thermal heat detectors in the kitchens and storage areas.
All detectors are mounted on System Sensor B210LPA bases.

FACP
The building was protected by an Edwards 2280 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in the main entrance vestibule. The system coding was continuous.
Notification Appliances
Most notification appliances were Edwards "Durabel" 6100D vibrating bells (6" gong).
There was an Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bell (6" gong) on EST 403-5A-R strobe plate (15cd) in the Storm Cellar, installed in 2015.

Pull Stations
Most pull stations were Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations.
There was an Edwards 274-111 conventional pull station in the Storm Cellar.
There were two Pyrene 950-1050 conventional pull stations at the entrance and common eating area as deficiency replacements.
Automatic Detection Devices
There were System Sensor "i3" C2W-BA conventional photoelectric smoke detectors in some areas, installed in 2015 replacing older unknown ionization smoke detectors.
There were Edwards 282A conventional rate-of-rise/197 degree fixed-temperature heat detectors in the kitchen and other areas.
There was a System Sensor 5601A conventional rate-of-rise/135 degree fixed-temperature heat detector in the Cougar Pete's as a deficiency replacement.
There was also an FDD CR135 135 degree fixed temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector in the Storm Cellar as a deficiency replacement.

The building is protected by an Edwards EST2 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system runs EST's Signature addressable protocol, and the system coding is continuous.
Notification Appliances
All common area notification appliances but one are Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6" gong) mounted on EST 403-5A-R strobe plates (15cd).
There is a Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plate (red, set to 15cd) in the lobby as a deficiency replacement in 2016; the bell remains intact.
The guest rooms have EST 692-5A-HSR mini-horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 15cd).
