The University at Albany is a public research university with campuses in Albany, Rensselaer and Guilderland, NY. The Uptown Campus in Albany is most known for being in weatherdan882002’s UAlbany fire alarm and fire drill videos. This page will cover the Campus Center. The building was built in the late 1960s, and underwent a renovation in 2001. The system was installed following the renovation.

System Specifications (2001-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Simplex 4120 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in an electrical or mechanical room. It is not networked to any of the other buildings on campus. The system runs Simplex’s MAPNET II addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice-evacuation.The following custom alarm pattern over the speakers is: two chimes, two slow whoops, three playbacks of the default message, and then slow whoop until silenced. The strobes also flash once before the audio starts. The outdoor NAC is free-run continuous.

Annunciators

There is a Simplex 4603-9101 LCD annunciator at the entrance.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Simplex 4903-9150 speaker/strobes (red, horizontal, wall-mount, 15cd), installed throughout. In the classrooms, offices, stairwells, bathrooms, and anywhere more visual coverage is required, there are Simplex “TrueAlert” 4904-9331 (red, wall-mount, 15cd) remote strobes. In the computer tech room in the basement, there is a Wheelock E90-24MCC-FW speaker/strobe (white, ceiling-mount, multi-candela) .

For outdoor notification, on one side of the building, there is a Wheelock MT-24-WM multi-tone horn/strobe (red, wall-mount, 117cd) set to code-3/temporal horn, unlike the other buildings.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9001 addressable single-action pull stations, installed semi-flush mounted.

Automatic Detection Devices

All smoke detectors are Simplex 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors, mounted on 4098-9792 base. There are also Simplex 2098-9207A photoelectric beam smoke detectors in the office corridors, with 2098-9207RA remote LED indicators.
