Hotel Le Germain Calgary is a large upscale hotel located at 899 Centre Street South, in Downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The hotel is known for its spa, and has a restaurant and bar on site. The hotel has a 4 star rating, and is very highly reviewed. The building was built in 2009, and the hotel opened in 2010; the fire alarm system is original.

The building is also connected to an office tower and Le Germain Residences (108 9 Ave SW). The fire alarm system monitors both of these buildings.

System Specifications (2009-present)

FACP

The buildings are protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. The system is a network with 7 nodes, see list below. The system runs Edwards’ Signature-series addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation. The first stage signal is a 20BPM tone, followed by a temporal tone in general alarm. No messages are played.

Annunciators

There are Edwards EST 3-LCDANN LCD annunciators with LCDXL1 displays in the main floor office CACF, and behind the hotel front desk.

All notification appliances are Edwards 965-3A-8RW speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, 8” round, 30cd, 70V).

There is an EST "Genesis" G4R-S7VM speaker/strobe (red, wall-mount, no marking, set to 15cd) in one renovated office unit.

There is also an EST "Genesis" G1R-VM remote strobe (red, wall-mount, no marking, set to 15cd) in the 2nd floor office area.

Guest Rooms

All guest rooms have Edwards 965-1A-4RW remote speakers (white, ceiling-mount, 4” round, 70V) mounted near the doorway.

Pull Stations

All pull stations are EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the buildings.

There are EST SIGA-HRS addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in the restaurant kitchen and garbage chute.

All detectors are mounted on SIGA-SB bases.

There are EST "SuperDuct" SIGA-SD addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors on the air handling units.
