Edmonton City Centre is a shopping mall located at 10025 102A Avenue Northwest, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The mall opened in 1974, and the fire alarm system was upgraded in the 2000s.

System Specifications (2000s-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100U addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal coding is 20BPM, followed by 60BPM for the alarm signal.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are Simplex “TrueAlert” 4906-9127 horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9004CA addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on Simplex 4098-9792 bases. There is also a sprinkler system with waterflow detection.

Modules

This system is tied to the neighbouring Delta Downtown Edmonton. This system trips the Delta system using a Simplex 4090-9002 relay module, and receives signals from the Delta system using a Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor module. There are also additional 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.
