The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology is a technical college/trades school located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This page will cover Building Y, which houses the Spartan Centre for Instrumentation Technology and the Petro-Canada Centre for Millwright Technology. It was built in 2007, and the fire alarm system is original.

System Specifications (2007-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100U addressable fire alarm system. The panel location is unknown. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice-evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal is 20BPM, followed by slow whoop and a custom message for the alarm signal.

Annunciators

There is a Simplex 4100-9212 “remote command center” LCD annunciator in a 3 bay cabinet in the main entrance vestibule

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are new old stock.
Most notification appliances are Wheelock E-9070-LS-24-CFW speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, 15cd), these are also installed in bathrooms.
The upper floors of Spartan have Wheelock ET-1070-LSM-24-VFW speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount, 15/75cd).
There are Wheelock ET-1070-LSM-24-VFR speaker/strobes (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd) in the stairwells and the door to Petro-Canada Centre.

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9004CA addressable two-stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Simplex 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in some areas, mostly elevator lobbies, mounted on 4098-9792 bases.

Modules

There are Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are Simplex 4090-9002 addressable relay modules for door release and elevator recall.

EOLs

There are Simplex 2081-9040C end of line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
