‘’’Frank McCool Arena’’’ is an indoor hockey arena owned by the city of Calgary. It is located in Lake Bonavista, and shares a parking lot with the Lake Bonavista Community Association. The arena was built in the 1970s, but the system is from the 2000s. (staff note: MyProperty was down when this page was made. Please update build date when MyProperty is back up.)

System Specifications

FACP

The arena is protected by a Mircom FX-2000 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located next to the main entrance. The panel was installed in approximately 2006, and it is unknown what it replaced. When in alarm, the panel codes all bells and horns to code 3.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are a mix of Mircom BL-6A (6” gong) and BL-10A (10”gong) motor bells. These are seen in the lobby, and the main arena. The locker rooms, which were renovated in 2016, have Mircom “Select-A-Horn/Strobe” FHS-340R horn/strobes, likely set to Broadband.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Mircom MS-401AD addressable single-action “tab” pull stations. These are from between 2006 and 2018. The pull station by the rear exit has its label missing.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Mircom MIX-2251B addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the facility.
