‘’’’Canadian Tire’’’’ is a chain of automotive/hardware stores across Canada. This particular store is located in the McKenzie Towne neighborhood of Southeast Calgary. It was built in 2005, and has the original fire alarm system.

System Specifications

FACP

The building is protected by a Simplex 4008 addressable fire alarm system. The full model of the panel is 4008-9121. Like every Canadian Tire, the panel is located in the automotive entrance. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and does code 3 in alarm.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are Simplex “Truealert” 4906-9127 SmartSync horn/strobes (red, wall-mount).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9001 addressable IDNet single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are no detectors in the storefront, as the building is protected by a sprinkler system with waterflow detection.

Bonus Information

This building suffered a fire in about 2009. The cause was a faulty electrical circuit in the backroom. As a result of this, the store was closed from 2009 to 2012. Surprisingly, the fire alarm system survived!
