‘’’Best Western’’’ is a chain of hotels headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. They have locations globally, and operate several brands, including Best Western Plus, and Best Western Premier. This particular hotel is a Best Western Plus property, and is located in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The hotel opened its doors in 1960, and was last renovated in 2014. The hotel has 8 floors, and has a mix of suites and regular rooms. The fire alarm system is not original.

System Specifications

FACP

The hotel is protected by an EST Quickstart QS4 hybrid-addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located next to the main entrance. The panel has one SLIC addressable card for the smoke detectors, and several ZB16 zone cards to accommodate the conventional pull stations. The system runs EST’s Signature-series addressable protocol, and does code 3 in alarm.

Notification Appliances

The notification appliances vary throughout the hotel. In most areas, there is a mix of Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong) and General Signal MB10-24 motor bells (10” gong). The pool area has an Edwards MB10-24 motor bell (10” gong), which was installed in the 2000s or 2010s. The guest rooms have Edwards 682-1C mini-horns (white, wall-mount, non-silenceable).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations are mostly Edwards 275-C111 conventional single-action pull stations, installed in the 1980s. The breakfast room exit has a third-generation Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull station, installed in the 1980s. The pool area has a seventh-generation Edwards 270-SPO, installed in the 2010s.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the hotel.
