Canadian Tire is a Canadian hardware/auto parts store chain. This particular store is located at 11940 Sarcee Trail Northwest, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in the Beacon Hill shopping area. The store opened in 2008, and the fire alarm system is mostly original, with a panel replacement in 2023.

System Specifications (2008-present)

FACP

The building is protected by an Edwards iO1000 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the automotive entrance vestibule, and is mounted inside an EST QuickStart QS4 cabinet. The system runs Edwards' Signature addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

The iO1000 was installed around in June 2023, replacing an EST QuickStart QS4, which in turn the replaced the original variant in 2012 after CPU issues.

Notification Appliances

All indoor notification appliances are Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong) on EST 403-5A-R strobe plates (15cd).

The garden centre and exterior of the building have Edwards MB6-24 motor bells (6” gong) with EST CS405-7A-T weatherproof remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd) mounted below them.

The outdoor bells were installed in 2020, replacing Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6” gong) for unknown reasons.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are EST SIGA-270 addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are EST SIGA-DH duct detector housings on the air handling units, with EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors heads in them.

There is a sprinkler system protecting the building.

Modules

There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.
