Linn-Mar High School is a high school located at 3111 North 10th Street, in Marion, Iowa, USA. The school was built in 1959, and was expanded in 1995, 2007, and 2017. The fire alarm system has been upgraded several times, and devices range in age from 1995 to the 2020s.

System Specifications (2020s-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Notifier NOTI-FIRE-NET networked addressable fire alarm system. The network consists of several Notifier NFS2-3030 and NFS2-640 control panels, located throughout the school. All areas from 1959-2007 run Notifier’s CLIP addressable protocol, and the 2017 addition runs Notifier’s FlashScan addressable protocol. The system coding is mixed between continuous and temporal.

Notification Appliances

1959-1996

Most notification appliances are System Sensor “Multi-Alert” MA-12/24 remote sounders (red, wall-mount, set to various tones, mostly Hi-Lo) paired with Gentex GXS-4-110WR remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 110cd).
Some areas have System Sensor MASS1575ADA sounder/strobes (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd, set to hi lo).
The 1996 additions have Gentex GOS24-15/75WR multi-tone horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd, set to hi-lo)

1999

Most notification appliances are System Sensor “SpectrAlert” P241575 horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd).
Most areas have System Sensor S241575 remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd) for additional visual coverage.

2007-2017

Most notification appliances are System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” P2R horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).
One area of the 2007 expansion has System Sensor PC2W horn/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, set to 15cd).
Most areas have System Sensor SCW remote strobes (white, ceiling-mount, set to 15cd) for additional visual coverage.
One stairwell has a System Sensor PC2WL horn/strobe (white, ceiling-mount, set to 15cd) as a deficiency replacement due to water damage.

Outdoors

Most outdoor areas have System Sensor “Multi-Alert” MA-12/24 remote sounders (red, wall-mount, set to swept frequency).
The 1999 expansion has System Sensor “SpectrAlert” H12/24K weatherproof remote horns (red, wall-mount) paired with System Sensor S1224MCK weatherproof remote strobes (red, wall-mount).
The 2007 expansion has System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” HRK weatherproof remote horns (red, wall-mount).
The 2017 expansion has System Sensor P2RK weatherproof horn/strobes (red, wall-mount).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations except for the 2007 and 2017 expansions are Notifier BGX-101L addressable dual-action pull stations.
There are Notifier NBG-12LX addressable dual-action pull stations in the 2007 expansion, and some are in the other areas as deficiency replacements.
The 2017 expansion has Notifier NOT-BG12LX addressable dual-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

Most notification appliances in the 1959-1999 sections are Notifier SDX-551 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors.
There are some Notifier FDX-551 addressable thermal smoke detectors in the 1999 area.
The 2007 and 2017 additions have Notifier FSP-851 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors. These are also found as deficiency replacements throughout.
There are Notifier FSP-951 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors as deficiency replacements.
All detectors except for the 2017 addition are mounted on System Sensor BX501 bases, while the 2017 addition’s are on System Sensor B210LP bases.

Modules

There are Notifier MMX-1 and FMM-1 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
